The owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, Peter Karmanos Jr., has found a buyer for the team. The former CEO of the Texas Rangers got a signed letter of intent which will need to be approved by the NHL before it’s official. That price tag is a whole lot bigger than when Karmanos bought the franchise formally known as the Hartford Whalers in 1994 for $48 million. And, this may have happened a day too late for Throwback Thursday, but here's a look back at when the Whalers came to town and became the Hurricanes.
