President Trump probably won’t be happy about this: The International Olympic Committee ruled that his BFF country, Russia, can’t participate in the Winter Olympics, coming up in February.
The decision was made due to Russia’s history of doping to get its athletes on the medals stand. Their doping at the 2014 Sochi Games “"caused unprecedented damage to Olympism and to sports.” (Yeah, we didn’t know Olympism was a word either. It sounds kind of dirty, like an Athlete’s Village After Hours type of thing.)
The Russian ATHLETES can still participate, but there will be no Russian flag or anthem for medal winners. And the athletes will be referred to as OARs … which stands for “Olympic Athlete from Russia”. Oh, and they also need to pass drug tests.
