Ever wanted to know what it was like in the good old days when people drove less and rode trains more? Well, thanks to a new train station in Raleigh, we can all experience the wonders of the choo-choo and give those vehicles a little rest. On Tuesday morning, the very first train left from the brand new Union Station located in the downtown Raleigh area, and it appears to be a pretty cool new transportation resource. The station is the first in the state to have level boarding — making it all the more wheelchair accessible — and there’s a restaurant and office spaces on the top floor. At said station, you can catch trains to local Triangle places like Cary and Durham, but you can also ride it to other regions in our state, including Greensboro, High Point and Charlotte. Who needs a car when you can hop on a train and pretend you’re on the Hogwarts Express? Let’s just hope we don’t have to run into any walls to get on it.
